Swimming with Seals for One in Oban, Scotland

Swim with grey, common and harbour seals off the Scottish coast with this exciting and interactive wildlife excursion. Perfect for beginners, start in Oban, sail off on a boat with knowledgeable experts, wetsuits and snorkelling gear and head to a large seal colony. Seals are so friendly and typically about 10 or 20 seals surround the boat upon arrival! Once everyone gets in the water, the seals zoom around ready to play. The water is only a few metres deep and is some of the clearest in Scotland, so there's no need for heavy dive gear. This is an incredible opportunity to get up close to these amiable creatures and there is even more splendid wildlife to spot on the journey there and back, including dolphins, sharks, eagles and red deer.

• Availability Description

  This is a seasonal experience that runs between April and September.

• Participant Guidelines

  Minimum age 18. Participants need to be reasonably fit to undertake a full day at sea. Not recommended for anyone susceptible to sea sickness. As this involves boats with ladders, it's unsuitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility restrictions.

• Weather

  This experience is cancelled in adverse weather conditions, please contact the venue before setting off if in doubt.

• Duration Detail

  Lasts between 7.5 - 8 hours with a break for lunch (a warm drink is provided after your swim but please bring along a packed lunch and water to drink).

• Numbers On The Day

  There are a maximum of 12 participants on the boat.

• Dress Code

  Life jackets are provided. Please wear sensible shoes and wrap up warm. A change of clothes is recommended. Binoculars and information guides are available onboard, but don't forget your camera to capture those wildlife close ups. Snorkelling equipment is available to hire from the venue by prior booking.
