Three Hour Glass Making Experience for One

Arrive at glassmaker Derek Bransfield's studio and be taught by an expert about glass making with other like-minded enthusiasts. This hands-on experience offers a rare opportunity to work with molten glass from the furnace. After an introductory talk on the important aspects of safety, get acquainted with the equipment and learn about the techniques you will need. Next, roll up those sleeves and apply key glass-making techniques to a piece of glass by making a paperweight, work with hot glass, gather it from the furnace to shape it and apply colour. This experience also includes a demonstration on glass blowing techniques. If you wish to keep your piece, it can be annealed overnight, cut and posted for a fee of £20.

• Availability Description

  This voucher is valid for one person. Workshops run once a month, excluding June, July and August. All dates are subject to availability.

• Participant Guidelines

  All participants over the age of 18 are welcome.

• Duration Detail

  Expect the experience to last around three hours in total. Morning classes run from 10am–1pm and afternoon classes from 2.30pm–5.30pm.

• Numbers On The Day

  Share the workshop with up to seven other participants, and two qualified instructors.

• Dress Code

  Health and safety dictates participants do not wear jewellery and long hair should be tied back. Wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and bring a change of clothes if desired.
